Local Forum: 'What's an Education Really Worth?', September 28th at Florey's!

Florey's welcomes you to our discussion group!

***Thursday, September 28th, 7:30pm-9:00pm***

We will be meeting to discuss the topic: What's an education really worth?

From Nico:

Despite a lower turnout for last month's discussion, we still managed to have a great dialogue about the topic of what make's something beautiful. There was an array of opinions on the matter. Beauty is something that is sought after, it's prestigious, elegant, and can come in many forms.

The thought now is, what's something that's sought after, prestigious, and arguably elegant in today's society? No, I'm not talking about whatever the latest is of Kim Kardashian. What I'm referring to, is an education; more specifically, is there really a value to being highly educated?

The knee jerk response might be, "Uh, duh.". But think about it, how many times have you met someone who has created a comfortable life for themselves or their family with just having work ethic and a high school diploma? Shoot, they might've not even finished high school. I can think of a lot of people in my life who have that background.

Ideas to Consider

- College ain't cheap: Even in the two years since I've graduated, college tuition prices are going up to a point where some people just don't see a return on investments. Student loans are deadly if not handled responsibly.
- The Degree doesn't make you: I've been fortunate enough to go to a four year university and a community college. I've seen students at Skyline that should've had the spots of some of my colleagues during my undergrad at Marquette. The only thing that sorted them out was their ability to pay tuition.

People of all educational backgrounds welcome :)
