Sharon the Health Presents: 'A Physical Experience of Energy & Intention', Wed. June 26th at Florey's!

Florey's Book Co. welcomes Sharon Caren of Sharon the Health,
and guest speaker Brian Rainie, Healing Arts Instructor.

***Wednesday, June 26th, 6:45-8:30pm***

Individuals new to energy work (metaphysics) tend to struggle. It feels so vague, and the seminars, books, and videos just don't seem to help. Even those who have studied for years may have a strong appreciation for energy work, but can still it is fleeting or uncertain. The reason for this is simple. They have never been able to "anchor" it to the real world.

Following this philosophy, we offer you a physical experience of energy. You will practice several skills, in a safe environment, where the effects will be far from subtle. Your body will remember the power of each technique, and anchor it to the real world. You will walk away knowing once and for all that energy exists, it affects you, and you can direct it.

About the Book:

Cancer survivor Leticia Croft-Holguin introduces cancer to children in a palatable, accessible fashion so that they can grasp the concepts and prepare for changes that will occur as their parents undergo treatment. She underwent eight rounds of chemo, thirty rounds of radiation, and seven surgeries. "Impossibly Glamorous" Book Event with Author Charles Ayres, Saturday June 15th, 2-4pm!

Florey's Books welcomes author Charles Ayres as he discusses his new book "Impossibly Glamorous: How a Misfit from Kansas Became an Asian Sensation"

***Saturday, June 15th, 2-4pm***

About the Book:

Charles Ayres heard plenty of 'Wizard of Oz' jokes growing up in Kansas. After finding himself on some seedy dance floors in Kansas City, his quest for love and glamour - and his penchant for all things Japanese - carried Charles from Dorothy's homeland to New York to Tokyo.
Impossibly Glamorous follows his exploits with Goth raver lesbians, hot men, and not-so-hot men, culminating in a long-term love affair with Japan. His journey from ugly baby to Asian media personality touches on tough issues such as coming out gay in Kansas, domestic violence, substance abuse, and how to to bounce back from any kind of adversity with only a faux fur coat and a cavalier skip.

About the Author:

Charles Ayres is a translator, Japanese media personality, and writer published in Harper's Bazaar Japan, and Metropolis Tokyo. 'Impossibly Glamorous' is his first book.

"Coastside Detectives: Distant Islands" Book Event with Author Matthew F. O'Malley, Sunday, June 9th, 2-4pm!

Florey's Books welcomes local author Matthew O’Malley as he discusses his new book "Coastside Detectives:Distant Islands".

***Sunday, June 9th, 2-4pm***

About the book:

In Coastside Detectives, Distant Islands, the world-weary detective Mike Mason becomes embroiled in the local politics of coastal preservation when he is called upon to explain his involvement with an environmental activist found murdered; the body of which was recovered from a local garbage dump. Joined by his partner, Joe Ballard, the two private investigators embark on a quest to find the activist’s murderer and in doing so realize things are not always what they seem; that someone who had once taken only a keen interest in Mike Mason’s life story is now becoming an active player. From prowling the waters just off the California coast, to running up against a vengeful developer, to following a fresh trail of body parts, Mike Mason uncovers answers, is left with questions, and learns that he has become a target. Full of fast-paced action and darkly comedic, Coastside Detectives: Distant Islands is sure to thrill fans of old-school detective novels in the vein of Hammett and Chandler.

About the author:

Matthew O’Malley was born and raised in San Francisco and is a current resident of the small town of Pacifica. A detective novel, film noir, and classic radio mystery buff, he is the author of several books and collections of short stories. This is the third novel in the Coastside Detectives series.

Shakespeare's Birthday: "That is the Question" Shakespeare Boardgame Event, April 23rd, 7pm!

Florey's Books welcomes local game creator John Ahlbach, and we invite you to join in and play his board game: "That is the Question: A Game of Shakespeare Knowledge", in observance of William Shakespeare's birthday.

***Tuesday, April 23rd, 7pm***

About the game:

'That is the Question' is a fun journey through all things Shakespeare.

The game's 500 questions come with a multiple-choice option that players with less experience can use to level the playing field against those with more expertise. The questions cover the plots, language and characters of major and minor plays. They cover Shakespeare on stage and in film in our own time.

Knowledge and educated guessing do not always win in That is the Question. Luck must be with you, too, as you must land on the right spaces to win the two of each type of Character Card needed for victory.

So, when Juliet asks, "What satisfaction canst thou have tonight?", the answer is, play That is the Question with your friends or family!

About the author/creator:

John Ahlbach is a teacher at Archbishop Riordan High School in San Francisco. He wrote the 500 questions used in That is the Question: A Game of Shakespeare Knowledge. The game board and cards were designed by Mona Toft, a graphic artist in St. Paul , MN. Much of the profits from this game will go to Friends: The National Association of Young People Who Stutter, of which John is a co-founder.

From Sharon:

Déjà vu or Past Life Experiences?

Have you ever had things happen that you can’t seem to explain?
Serendipitous some may say. Many believe there is more to this life than meets the eye!
If you’d like to hear more about where souls originated and connect with your souls unique gifts, come join me.

This is an interactive exploration of connecting with the deepest part of you, your Soul.
Here you’ll find your true essence and purpose. Become empowered!

In 2002, my mother died after an18 month illness. I had a sense that she was in trouble in the non-physical.
I was led to Akashic Record Soul Clearing work and able to help my mother in the non-physical.
This work has changed my life and those around me.

The event is free but please RSVP!

Treasures and Trivia of Pacifica! Saturday, April 13th 9am to noon at the Spindrift Theater!

How much do you know about Pacifica?

Come have some fun and learn new information about our coastal town at Treasures and Trivia of Pacifica!

http://www.treasuresandtriviaofpacifica.com/

This treasure hunt excursion will mimic the “great race” where teams compete against each other for some terrific gifts and cash prizes.

Let’s see if you can identify unique landmarks and answer historical questions about our town.

Teams will be given a list of businesses and other destinations, and the trick is to see how quickly your team can get from place to place, correctly answer trivia questions and make it back before other teams.

The race starts and ends at the Pacifica Spindrift Theatre.
$15 a person until April 1st; after that $20 a person.
Teams of Four suggested and encouraged
Bring your Digital Camera or Cell phone

Food and refreshments will be available for purchase
Your Participation Will Help Three Non-profits in Pacifica:
