June 2018 Poetry at Florey's.

Florey's Books invites you to our ongoing poetry event!

***Saturday, June 30th, 7:30-9:30pm***

The featured poets this month are Eileen Malone and Kathleen McClung.

From Sherri:

Dear Poetic Community,

Amazingly, we've reached the mid-point of the season, and to celebrate poetry and the summer solstice, I'd like to invite you to consider joining Aaron and me for our June poetry reading. We'll be welcoming poets and teachers Eileen Malone and Kathleen McClung for an evening we can all look forward to.

You are invited, as always, to bring your own work to read at open mic (3 minutes, please), and if you can, a snack or drink for the refreshment table.

About the featured poets:

Eileen Malone has published her poetry over 500 literary journals and anthologies, some of which have earned significant awards, i.e., four Pushcart nominations. Her award winning collection Letters with Taloned Claws was published by Poet’s Corner Press (Sacramento), and her book length collection I Should Have Given Them Water by Ragged Sky Press (Princeton).

She founded and now directs the annual Soul-Making Keats Literary Competition and its subsequent Awards Event held at the San Francisco Main Library.

Her past experience includes teaching with the Poets in the Schools Program and for local community colleges.

Kathleen McClung is the author of The Typists Play Monopoly (2018) and Almost the Rowboat (2013). Her work appears widely in journals and anthologies including Mezzo Cammin, Unsplendid, Naugatuck River Review, Peacock Journal, The MacGuffin, Raising Lilly Ledbetter: Women Poets Occupy the Workspace, and elsewhere. Winner of the Rita Dove, Morton Marr, Shirley McClure, and Maria W. Faust national poetry prizes, she is a Pushcart and Best of the Net nominee. She teaches at Skyline College and The Writing Salon and is associate director of the Soul-Making Keats literary competition. She lives in San Francisco.

We hope to see you!
