Investing 3.0 - Book event with author Richard A. Raybin, Nov. 18th at Florey's.

Florey's Books welcomes author Richard A. Raybin as he discusses his book, "Investing 3.0".

***Saturday, November 18th, 2-4pm***

About the book:

The financial world can seem unwieldy and hard to navigate, frustrating the best of us. But although it can be daunting, financial markets are based on a solid foundation: move money from those who have excess to those who need it, and in the process, allow each party to get something in return.

That return is the goal of all investors, and how to increase returns is the focus of this book. Modern techniques have made investing easier and more accessible. This book will empower you with the knowledge to make the best investment decisions. Advances in financial-market technology and investment strategies have yielded new knowledge and methods that are increasingly profitable. First, the use of computers pushed the industry forward. That was followed by the revolutionary introduction of index and mutual funds. What’s on the horizon is even more exciting and potentially lucrative.

Invaluable to anyone interested in making smart investments, Investing 3.0 demystifies the entire process. This detailed manual includes a historical overview, explanations of how investing strategies are changing, portfolio recommendations, and advice for selecting a professional advisor. Turn frustration into progress and savings into profit.

About the author:

Rick Raybin has forty years of experience in the financial industry. He holds a BA in economics from Bowdoin College and an MBA in finance and accounting from Columbia University. He worked as a certified public accountant for Coopers and Lybrand before becoming CFO of Rosenberg Real Estate Equity Funds. In that position, he teamed up with major US banks and insurance companies to form the National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries, and he served as its first president and chairman. He currently works as a financial advisor.

Raybin lives in San Mateo, California with his wife, Ramona. He has four adult children. His interests include tennis and amateur theater. He also volunteers with community organizations, often serving as treasurer and advising on endowment investment strategies.

Florey's Book Club: 'The Little Red Chairs' November 16th!

Florey's welcomes you to our book club!

***Thursday, November 16th, 7:00pm-8:30pm***

Come by for a chat about our November book, 'The Little Red Chairs' by Edna O'Brien.

About the book:

One night, in the dead of winter, a mysterious stranger arrives in the small Irish town of Cloonoila. Broodingly handsome, worldly, and charismatic, Dr. Vladimir Dragan is a poet, a self-proclaimed holistic healer, and a welcome disruption to the monotony of village life. Before long, the beautiful black-haired Fidelma McBride falls under his spell and, defying the shackles of wedlock and convention, turns to him to cure her of her deepest pains.
Then, one morning, the illusion is abruptly shattered. While en route to pay tribute at Yeats's grave, Dr. Vlad is arrested and revealed to be a notorious war criminal and mass murderer. The Cloonoila community is devastated by this revelation, and no one more than Fidelma, who is made to pay for her deviance and desire. In disgrace and utterly alone, she embarks on a journey that will bring both profound hardship and, ultimately, the prospect of redemption. Moving from Ireland to London and then to The Hague, THE LITTLE RED CHAIRS is Edna O'Brien's first novel in ten years -- a vivid and unflinching exploration of humanity's capacity for evil and artifice as well as the bravest kind of love.

About the author:

Edna O'Brien is the author of The Country Girls trilogy, The Light of Evening, The Love Object, and many other acclaimed books. Born and raised in the west of Ireland, O'Brien has lived in London for many years.
